Are you ready for Independence Day, the U.S.A.’s birthday celebration?
Promoting a safe and patriotic holiday on Manchaug Pond, the Manchaug Pond Foundation looks to kick off the festivities:
Annual BOAT DECORATING CONTEST & PARADE!
We’re looking for entries so get out your red, white and blue or go big with a theme on Sunday, July 1st at 1:00 p.m. with the Annual Boat Decorating Contest!
Register your entry by contacting us, providing the Captain’s name, telephone #, boat make & model, and decorating theme by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your entry number which must be prominently displayed on both sides of your vessel, visible to the judges.
Judging: All vessels should gather at 1 p.m. near the Blueberry Island sandbar at the north-east side of the lake where the Judges’ boat will begin reviewing all pre-registered entries. Vessels of all shapes and sizes are welcome to enter!
Parade: After the Judges’ have a good look at all the entries, follow the lead boat, the“Support Our Troops Flag Ship,” and all entries in a slow cruise, parading counter-clock wise around the lake. This will allowing full viewing of your artistically decorated entry and the crew’s acting ability and enthusiasm giving both the judges and all shoreline and roadside spectators a sight to remember! If you don’t want to be eligible for prizes, recognition, and most of all, bragging rights, you can skip the registration and simply join in the fun!
So hop in your boat, fly Old Glory, and pull up as we go by or just cheer from the shore!
Awards and cash prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners at the August 11th Annual Meeting of the Members. Winning entries will be notified by phone after the contest (once the head judge tallies the points) and posted here on the website.

LIGHTING OF THE SHORELINE
Tuesday, July 3rd at 9 p.m. get out the tiki torches, and flares for the Lighting of the Shoreline, an annual tradition begun in 1974.
If you didn’t get yours at the Social, flares can be purchased from the Manchaug Pond Foundation at $5. each or 3 for $10 with both roadside and LED types available. Contact us and a member of the Board of Directors will deliver to your lake house or campsite.
* Flares will be delivered locally as they cannot be mailed.
