The skies have cleared and Manchaug Pond is ready to resume the July 4th Independence Day celebrations – a long weekend full of festivities and traditions!
Here on the lake, the holiday opened Thursday evening with the MPF Lighting of the Shoreline with members and friends setting the shore of Manchaug Pond in a warm red glow of solidarity and friendship. Friday found hurricane Arthur passing through bringing 2 1/4 inches of rain and wind to quiet the activities and bring the waterlevel up to full. Today we are hoping the wind dies down so that the festivities can continue with cookouts, the flying of Old Glory, the decorating of boats and homes, and our annual Boat Decorating Contest scheduled for 2 p.m. Tomorrow two campground raffle drawings sponsored by the MPF to benefit our work for the lake and hosted by King’s Family Campground and Lake Manchaug Camping to benefit Manchaug Pond will take place.
So for the Boat Decorating Contest, register your entry this morning if you haven’t already done so and later this afternoon or evening support the Campground Raffle Fundraiser by purchasing your $10 ticket to win a Sea-Doo Aqua Lounge. Tickets are on sale at the store at King’s Family Campground or at the office at Lake Manchaug Camping. Only 100 ticket will be sold in each raffle so the odds are great as well as the cause!
Have a safe and fun-filled July 4th on Manchaug Pond!
