At Manchaug Pond this Labor Day weekend? Join in the Lighting of the Shoreline with the Manchaug Pond Foundation!
In solidarity as the Manchaug Pond Foundation let’s light the shoreline of Manchaug Pond at 8:30 p.m. on the eve of Labor Day- September 6th! This remains the last big weekend on the lake as children go back to school and the summer vacation season comes to an end. With flares, tiki torches, and campfires, light your waterfront, campsite and home showing solidarity with the Manchaug Pond Foundation to make a spectacular and safe end of the season.
This is a long-standing tradition begun over 40 years ago, setting the shoreline of Manchaug Pond aglow on the eves of July 4th and Labor Day. The practice was suggested at the 1974 Manchaug Pond Association (MPA) Annual Meeting by member Professor Robert Nunnemacher after experiencing at a lake in New York and loving the effect. The MPA membership unanimously voted that day to bring the practice to Manchaug Pond where it has been a tradition ever since.
If you didn’t purchase your flares at the August Annual Meeting, order online or see a board member. Cost is $5./flare – 1/2 hour burn marine/road eco-friendly environmentally safe flares are available.

October 17th: The DAM Race 5K Run, 3K Health Walk with registration and sponsorship now open.
October 17-18th: Visit the Manchaug Pond Overlook during Waters Farm Days to learn more about the lake, Manchaug Pond Foundation and our stewardship, conservation work together from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
October 26th: Lake & Watershed Clean-up from 9 a.m. to noon.
