Turtles and Snakes of Manchaug Pond and the Watershed

Spotted Turtle (Clemmys guttata)
These small turtles are the focus of a new grant received by Mass Wildlife in March of 2018 to study conservation and management efforts. In the watershed, please report sightings and send photos with date, time and location to us.
Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina)
- Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta)
- Snapping Turtle (Clelydra serpentian) Crossing road in spring to lay eggs on land.
- A large snapper on shore to lay eggs
- Don’t get too close, she’s expecting
- Common Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis)
