July 4th Weekend Calls for Celebrations and Boat Decorating!

IMG_7170Are you ready for the big U.S.A.’s birthday celebration?

Manchaug Pond is the place where memories are made on this red, white and blue holiday: campfires and cookouts with family and friends; fireworks and flares with the Lighting of the Shoreline (Friday 9PM); 2 raffles drawings on the 4th with one at King’s Family Campground and the other at Lake Manchaug Camping; and boats out on the lake with flags flying high parading for all to see or decked out from stem to stern for judging in the Manchaug Pond Foundation’s Annual Boat Decorating Contest (Sunday 1PM)!

The Foundation invites all to participate, keeping the festivities fun and safe!

For Friday night’s Lighting of the Shoreline on July 3rd at 9 PM, use your Tiki torches or our flares to put Manchaug Pond’s shoreline a glow in solidarity.  To purchase flares, drop us an email and we’ll get a Board member to deliver right to your door or campsite.  Members will receive a free flare* with membership, otherwise they came be purchased at $5. each or 3 for $10.  So join/donate today.

On July 4th,  two Campground Raffles will take place to benefit the lake we love, so be sure to get your ticket! Check out the website’s Events section for details and prizes.

While flags will be flying aBoat-Decorating-Contest-2011-First-Place-GCll weekend, be sure to get out on the water on Sunday to join other boaters as we parade around the lake in celebration of the 4th.

To register your boat for judging in the Annual Boat Decorating Contest, email the Captain’s name, vessel typeIMG_9540,  phone number, and decorating theme ASAP!  Awards and prize money will be given at the Annual Meeting on Saturday, August 22nd.
