Birds & Birding

Whatever the season, whatever the weather,  Manchaug Pond and its watershed is a great place to go birding!  Look to the skies for common sightings of eagles, osprey and turkey vultures; to the water for heron, cormorants and ducks; and to the land for Pileated woodpeckers, kingfisher and wild turkey.  In the quiet of the night, listen for the early AM hoo hoo hoooing of a barred owl, or kayak the coves for nesting wood ducks or visit for the occasional migratory bufflehead or common mergenser or snowy egret.
